Dr. A. Daniel LaurentDr. Laurent received his Bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1977. He received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1981. His Residency training included Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital and Urology at George Washington University in DC. He began private practice in Urology in 1987. Dr. Laurent was instrumental in bringing full-time Kidney Stone Lithotripsy and Prostate Laser services to Reston Hospital, and serves as Medical Director of the Lithotripsy Service. The full-time availability of these services has made the hospital's Urology Department one of the largest in the Metropolitan area. He has served in numerous leadership positions, and is currently Chairman of the Reston Hospital Board of Trustees. Dr Laurent is certified by the American Board of Urology, and is a member of the American Urology Association, the Washington Urologic Society, and the Northern Virginia Medical Society. Dr. Laurent is experienced in all areas of Urology and Urologic Surgery, and has particular interests in advanced treatments for Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH) including the Greenlight Laser procedure and office-based microwave procedures. He also has interests in Kidney Stone treatment and Urologic Cancer. Dr. Gary S. FialkDr. Gary S. Fialk has been in Urology practice for more than 20 years. He received his general surgery and urology training at George Washington University Medical Center, graduating in 1986. He is certified by the American Board of Urology and recently completed the recertification process. Dr. Fialk is a 1981 graduate of the University Of Connecticut School Of Medicine. He also received a Masters degree in Science from the Harvard University School of Public Health in 1976. He has held numerous hospital committee memberships at Reston Hospital Center, where he is currently the Chairman of the Department of Surgery. He also has privileges at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. Professional Society memberships include the American Urological Association, Washington Urological Society and the Virginia Urological Society. Dr. Fialk is experienced in all areas of adult urology and genitourinary surgery. His interests include kidney stone disease, urological cancer, urinary incontinence and Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH). He has surgical skills in vasectomy, ureteroscopy, ESWL, minimally invasive management of BPH including green light laser, prostate radioactive seed implant and transobturator tape sling for female urinary incontinence. Office procedures include cystoscopy, ultrasound examination, prostate biopsy and prostate microwave therapy for BPH.
